Collector's Primer

George Daniell (American, 1911-2002) graduated from Yale University and began photographing around New York before opening his first studio on 42nd Street. His work took him to Europe many times where he met and photographed famous actors and actresses. In the 1960s he moved his studio to Maine, where he continued to exhibit his paintings and photography. His work was rediscovered and collected by Bruce Weber in 2001. Since then there have been several museum and gallery shows, including the University of Maine Museum of Art, Leslie-Lohman Foundation,The Addison Gallery of American Art, Clampart and Tides Institute & Museum of Art. Daniell's work is in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, The National Gallery in Washington, amongst many well-known museums across the U.S. All vintage prints are signed.
